To home school is to take on a certain amount of responsibility that is not usually found in parents. This means that you will be taking the time to school your child or children through out the day which could take away from the normal activities that you may take part in. However, you will not find anything more rewarding then this and you will find that your child is making progress well beyond that of any child in the public school system. You should take advantage of the home school resource that is available to you and that will make things run a whole lot smoother without having to take on the issues that come with the territory of home school and all that goes into it. Home school curriculum is based on what the “teacher” wants to teach. This is of course outside the normal required courses such as math and English, but you have the choice on what you do or do not want your child to be taught. This is an amazing opportunity for those that want to give their children only the best in education without all the mess that is normally associated with the problems that public schools offer. Take for instance the lame classes that so many schools choose to teach in an effort to reach their limits for the federal funding programs. All of this can be cut out when you home school because you do not fall under the same guidelines that the public schools do. This means that you have so much more freedom in the way that you teach as well as the way that conduct the every day activities.

Once the Decision to Home School is made...

Once the decision to home school is made, choosing the home school program that is right for you and the child is the most important aspect of the home school issue. You need to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the child to know where to begin. Working first on the weaknesses you should bring the child to a point where they are comfortable with a single grade level in all subjects then move forward from there. This will help you along the way to make sure that you do not have one subject lagging while you are moving forward with another. You have the advantage over the public schools in this way because you can work until the child has a firm grasp before moving on.
